Volkstok'n'barrell To Fly Stable Flag at Hastings

Thursday, 3rd August 2017

The Donna Logan and Chris Gibbs stable has been dealt an early season blow with Wyndspelle set to be a surprise absentee from the upcoming Gr1 Tarzino Trophy at Hastings, reports NZ Racing Desk. The Ruakaka trainers will now rely upon multiple Gr1 winner Volkstok'n'barrell (Tavistock) to fly the stable flag during the Hawke's Bay carnival. "Wyndspelle is going to be flying to Melbourne to join the stable of Mick Price," Logan said. The winner of the Gr2 Waikato Guineas and Group One placed in the Diamond Stakes during his juvenile season, Wyndspelle (Iffraaj) had recently finished sixth when resuming over 1200m on his home course. Plans for Volkstok'n'barrell remain unchanged with the stable stalwart making excellent progress toward his Te Rapa return to racing on 19 August. "Volkstok'n'barrell is looking at the Foxbridge Plate and that will then set him up for the last two Group Ones at Hawke's Bay," Logan said.
