Addictive Nature To Press Gr1 Claims

Friday, 4th August 2017

Highly regarded colt Addictive Nature will seek to enhance his Group One credentials when he contests the Walking2help.com.au Sprint (1200m) at Royal Randwick tomorrow, reports racingnsw.com.au. The Bjorn Baker-trained 3YO created a big impression when scoring on debut at Warwick Farm two weeks ago, breaking the 1100m class record of five-time Group One winner Eremein that had stood for 13 years. "He looks magnificent and on what he has shown us at home and on the track, he's very exciting so we're looking forward to it," Baker said. The $1 million Gr1 Golden Rose at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday, 23 September has been earmarked as a potential target for Addictive Nature, but Baker refuses to put the cart before the horse. "We've got the Up And Coming (August 19) and the Ming Dynasty a week after so we've got those two options to decide between but it's very much one step at a time with him for now," he said. Purchased for $775,000 by Ultra Thoroughbred Racing at the 2016 NZ Bloodstock Premier Yearling Sale, Addictive Nature is by Savabeel out of the unraced mare Generous Nature (Carnegie), making him a full-brother to former smart 3YO Savvy Nature. A winner of the Gr2 Vase in Melbourne and Gr3 Spring Stakes at Newcastle, Savvy Nature was also placed at Gr1 level behind Complacent and Criterion in the 2013 Spring Champion Stakes in Sydney before eventually continuing his career in Hong Kong.
