Tumbler Set to Confirm Sydney Trip
Trainer Barry Lockwood has his fingers crossed that Tumbler (Time Thief-Brookton Flash, by Spartacus) will confirm plans for an interstate trip when she contests the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission Open Handicap (1200m) at Doomben tomorrow, reports Racing Queensland Webnews. The richly talented sprinter has overcome niggling injuries throughout her career to build an imposing record of 7 wins from 9 starts, and Lockwood is now eyeing some valuable black-type starting with the Gr3 Toy Show Handicap (1300m) at Randwick on 19 August. "She's been a handful right through her career but since her last win she's been good – touch wood," Lockwood said. "Provided she wins or races well, she'll go to Sydney for the Toy Show. She seems to have them covered here and the Toy Show will give us a guide good whether to stay on [race on in the spring]." Lockwood's biggest concern with Tumbler is barrier 12 after she was slow away in her recent Sunshine Coast win. "The alley is designed to beat her. There's no other way of putting it," he said.
