American Gal Wins Gr1 Test Stakes

Monday, 7th August 2017

At Saratoga racecourse in the US, 3YO filly American Gal (Concord Point-American Story, by Ghostzapper) finally broke through for an elusive top-flight success when scoring by 4 lengths in the US$500,000 Gr1 Test Stakes (7 furlongs) for 3YO fillies, defeating Faypien (Ghostzapper) & Tequilita (Union Rags). American Gal improved her record to 4 wins (including the Gr3 Victory Ride Stakes) and 2 placings (including the Gr1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies) from 6 starts for US$707,700 in earnings. "We knew she was sitting on a big performance," trainer Simon Callaghan told Blood Horse. "She came into this race so good after her last race, and for once the race went perfectly to plan. She got a great trip and she dominated today." He added: "We'll take her back to California and think about the Breeders' Cup and which way to go about it."
