Australia Still on Agenda for Star US Filly
US trainer Wesley Ward has indicated that connections are still seriously considering campaigning star filly Lady Aurelia in Australia. Ward was discussing Lady Aurelia's upcoming assignment in the Gr1 Nunthorpe Stakes at the end of the month, before talk turned to her plans for the future. Crowned champion European 2YO filly in 2016, Lady Aurelia (Scat Daddy-D' Wildcat Speed, by Forest Wildcat) confirmed her status as one of the best sprinters in the world when last sighted scorching to an easy 3 length win in the King's Stand (1000m) at Royal Ascot in June. "She's doing fantastic. She had a good rest when she got home and has done some great work. She's a once-in-a-lifetime filly to train and we'll do our best to make sure she can bring her best to the table," Ward told Racing Post. "We had a plan from last year and she's ticked the boxes so far…That's hard to do in racing. I've spoken with the owners and everybody is excited to race on next year." Ward continued: "Hopefully with a good winter's rest she can come back again in the spring on a similar sort of schedule, probably culminating next year in Australia or else – and it'll be a big decision – in the Breeders' Cup."
