Top Mare a Perfect Fit for Munz
Under his GSA Bloodstock banner, Melbourne breeding and racing identity Johnathan Munz has purchased an interest in Group One-wining Kiwi mare Perfect Fit, reports NZ Racing Desk. "Johnathan has purchased a half share in her," Munz's Cambridge-based bloodstock manager Dean Hawthorne said. "She'll run in the Foxbridge Plate first-up and hopefully the track will be okay for her." Hawthorne added: "She doesn't mind a bit of cut in the ground, but we don't want it too testing, and if she's going well then she'll head to the Tarzino Trophy." Perfect Fit's future programme will be determined by her performance in the opening leg of the Triple Crown series at Hastings. "She has got a date with Exceed And Excel and we would prefer to get her in foal this year, but that's not set in stone," Hawthorne said. "If she was very strong in the Tarzino we could even look at something in Sydney." By Elusive City out of the three-time Gr1-winning mare Fayreform, Perfect Fit's biggest win to date was in last year's Gr1 New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes (1600m) at Te Rapa. She was also Gr1-placed in New Zealand's feature summer sprints, the Railway Stakes and Telegraph Handicap in January.
