Ascot & Arc in Enable's Sights

Thursday, 10th August 2017

John Gosden has left open the possibility of running Khalid Abdullah’s outstanding filly Enable (Nathaniel-Concentric, by Sadlers Wells) in both the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and on British Champions Day due to the normal 13-day gap between meetings being extended to 20 this year, reports Racing Post. "She's been entered in both Ascot races and there's a week longer between the Arc and Champions Day this year,” said Gosden. “That means, from a trainer’s point of view, you’re not trying to back up in 13 days at Ascot this year – there are 20 this time – so all possibilities are open.” Enable stamped herself as one of the best British fillies of the modern era when beating older rivals in the Gr1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2400m) two weeks ago. Gosden labelled the English & Irish Oaks winner as the best filly he has ever trained after she bounded to an emphatic 4.5 length win in Britain’s midsummer showpiece.
