Thursday, 10th August 2017

Crystal Fountain, a three-quarter sister to former champion Australian 3YO filly Serenade Rose, extended her unbeaten record to four when resuming with an easy 1.25 length win in the Hyland Race Colours BM70 Handicap (1100m) at Geelong yesterday. Trained by Lee & Anthony Freedman and carrying the navy blue silks of Coolmore Stud, the 4YO by Stravinsky out of Pride Of Tralee (Redoute's Choice) was a $180,000 purchase by renowned bloodstock agent and part-owner James Bester at the 2015 NZ Bloodstock Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Cambridge Stud. Serenade Rose, who was joint top filly on the 2005-06 Australasian 3YO Classification, won 8 of her 19 starts for over $1.7 million in prize money. During the spring of 2005 and autumn of 2006 she proved the dominant staying filly in the country winning three races at Gr1 level, namely the VRC Oaks, Australian Oaks, and Arrowfield Stud Stakes.
