Top Tassie Mare Out of Spring

Thursday, 10th August 2017

Star Tasmanian mare Hot Dipped (Written Tycoon-Galvanized, by Rubiton) has been ruled out of the spring with a tendon injury, reports racenet. The multiple stakes-winning 4YO was scheduled to travel to Melbourne yesterday to compete at Flemington on the weekend. "We were re-shoeing here at about five this morning before she was to head off to Devonport to go on the boat over and the sun just caught a warm patch on her tendon," trainer Brendan McShane said. "I can't explain it but sometimes the sun exposes a shiny spot, which I guess is where there is more blood flow or something going on, and I thought gee that doesn't look right. We shaved the area and there was a small bow in the tendon." McShane said the tendon will require at least six months rest before Hot Dipped can resume light work. "It will be an unknown whether it [the tendon] will go again but she's a young horse and we've still got plenty of time with her," he said. Hot Dipped has hitherto won 8 of her 13 starts for over $330,000 in earnings, highlighted by feature wins in the Listed Strutt Stakes, Listed Tasmanian Guineas, Listed Gold Sovereign Stakes & Magic Millions Tasmanian 2YO Plate.
