Colt Trekking Well for Rosebud

Friday, 11th August 2017

Godolphin will be hoping that Trekking can begin to live up to the promise displayed during his juvenile season when he resumes in tomorrow's Listed Rosebud (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens. The son of Street Cry won impressively on debut last December before stepping up to Gr3 level in the Black Opal Stakes where he finished third behind the highly regarded Trapeze Artist. He then rounded out his 2YO campaign when finishing well beaten in the Gr1 Golden Slipper on an unsuitable heavy track. "He showed nice, raw ability as a two-year-old and I loved the look of him in his first barrier trial," head Godolphin trainer James Cummings told Godolphin.com. The level of natural ability possessed by the colt was clearly apparent and according to assistant trainer Darren Beadman, he has retained every bit of it. "We always liked him and he ended up being a Golden Slipper runner, but that race came a bit soon for him," Beadman said. "He went nicely winning a barrier trial last month and he had a strong gallop in between races at Canterbury last week."
