Dilemma for Nashville

Friday, 11th August 2017

Trainers Adrian and Harry Bull will decide on Friday night which race their last-start Winter Cup winner Nashville will line up in at Riccarton on Saturday, reports NZ Racing Desk. The 9YO son of Darci Brahma has been entered in both the Millenium Hotels and Resorts Premier Open 1400 and the Christchurch Casino Winter Classic over 1800m. "The weight relief in one field is the main reason," Adrian Bull said. "He only gets 55.5kg with a claim (in the 1400m). The other one he gets 60kg and there are a few good horses on 53kg." Some of those horses include the Ben Ropiha-trained Doiknowyou, who was runner-up to Nashville in the Gr3 Winter Cup last start, as well as Platinum Command who placed fourth. "We'll just see if the track gets any worse," Bull said. "If it does we would probably lean toward the lighter weight race." Bull said he was very happy with Nashville's win in the Winter Cup and that he will go for a spell after Saturday's assignment before a possible tilt at the Gr2 Coupland's Bakeries Mile in November, a race he won in 2012.
