First Foal for Outreach

Tuesday, 15th August 2017

The first foal of beautifully related young stallion Outreach (Exceed And Excel-Bahia, by Snippets) has been born at Widden Stud. The foal is a lovely filly out of the well related mare Queen of the Nile. By Wanted, Queen Of the Nile is out of the At Talaq mare Cleopatra's Girl making her a half-sister to Caulfield Cup hero and six–time Gr1 winner Mummify. "She is a lovely strong filly, well-marked with exceptional muscle, very much in the mould of Exceed and Excel and just what we had hoped for with Outreach," said David Merrick, Stud Manager at Widden Stud. Outreach, a full-brother to 2013 Gr1 Golden Slipper winner Overreach and a three-quarter brother-in-blood to Gr1 Blue Diamond winner and leading Victorian sire Reward for Effort, is bred to be a top stallion. Bred by George Altomonte's thoroughbred nursery par excellence Corumbene Stud, he was retired after fracturing his pelvis when second at his only race start behind subsequent Golden Slipper winner Vancouver in the 2015 Gr3 Canonbury Stakes at Rosehill. Outreach, who covered 136 mares last spring, will once again stand at $7,700 for the upcoming breeding season.
