Ajman Princess Wins Gr1 Darley Prix Jean Romanet

Monday, 21st August 2017

At Deauville in France yesterday, ahead of the second session of the Arqana August Sale, Darley’s unbeaten European Champion juvenile & dual Gr1-winning shuttle stallion Teofilo (Galileo-Speirbhean, by Danehill) added a Gr1 winner when 4YO mare Ajman Princess (Teofilo-Reem Three, by Mark Of Esteem) caused a 1.25-lengths upset for trainer Roger Varian in the €250,000 Gr1 Darley Prix Jean Romanet (2000m). Bred by Darley, and raced by Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum, Ajman Princess defeated Siyoushake and Left Hand, with $2.50 favourite So Mi Dar among the beaten brigade. Ajman Princess’s sire Teofilo, sire of Gr1 winners in each of his first three Australian crops, returns to Darley Australia in 2017 for shuttle duties where he will stand for $44,000.
