Galileo Filly Headlines Early Arqana Results
At the annual Arqana August Yearling Sale held in France's seaside port of Deauville, a triumvirate comprising Markus Jooste's Mayfair Speculators, Peter & Ross Doyle & Coolmore's MV Magnier was stretched to €950,000 to land the first session's sale-topping filly by world champion stallion Galileo. Consigned by Ecurie des Monceaux, who bred her with Skymarc Farm, Lot 51 is the sixth foal of her stakes-winning dam Prudenzia (by Dansili). From the family of Gr1 English Oaks heroine Alexandrova, herself a Gr1 class producer, Prudenzia's 2010 foal (by Montjeu) is Chiquita, winner of the Gr1 Irish Oaks and placed in Chantilly's Gr1 Prix de Diane & Ascot's Gr1 British Champions Fillies and Mares Stakes. Prudenzia's 2016 foal is also a filly by Galileo. Meanwhile, on Day-1 of the two day Arqana August Yearling Sale in France, strong demand was evident with 67 of the 82 yearlings catalogued changing hands at 81%, while the average price closed at €258,239, up significantly on 2016.
