Manhattan Rain Full Brother Making His Mark At Stud
Undeniably one of the best-bred stallions standing in Australia and New Zealand, Echoes of Heaven (Encosta de Lago-Shantha's Choice, by Canny Lad) is the sire of rising Singapore star Countofmontechristo, who made it 6 wins from 7 starts for trainer Michael Clements when saluting over 1200m on Sunday evening. Jockey Glen Boss had to waste hard to ride at 51.5kg and Countofmontecristo made his efforts worthwhile with a comfortable victory in his first appearance since their third placing in the Singapore Guineas in May. "He was the best horse in the race and I was not going to ride him pretty," Boss said. "It didn't quite work out for him in the Guineas, but he was still very gallant… it was worth wasting for a horse like him. You'll do that for a nice horse." Also the sire of stakes-placed Impulsive Habit, Echoes of Heaven's siblings include Redoute's Choice, Platinum Scissors, Manhattan Rain and Sliding Cube (dam of Rubick). Raced by Teeley Assets, who bred him, Echoes of Heaven was a stakes-winner who placed in the Gr1 SA Derby. He stands at New Zealand's Linwood Park.
