Promising Debut For American Pharoah Full Brother

Tuesday, 22nd August 2017

A full-brother to US Triple Crown winner and Coolmore Australia shuttle stallion American Pharoah has finished a promising second to stablemate Zatter in his Del Mar debut, reports bloodhorse.com. Named St. Patrick's Day, the Pioneerof the Nile colt not only appears to have an almost forensic fascination with his surroundings, but also shares many of the same mannerisms as his legendary brother and full-sister America Cleopatra. "He has Pharoah's and his sister's kind, sweet disposition," notes Baffert. "But Pioneerof the Nile was that way, too." In terms of physique and temperament, however, St Patrick's Day appears quite different, reports Baffert. "He's just made differently. Pharoah was a leaner-type horse. And Pharoah was a run-off. He wanted to bolt and run. He was a handful. This guy is a pretty smart colt. He does everything right." Baffert was equally euphoric post-race, saying "He's the kind of horse - he'll get so much more out of (racing). I don't see him getting beat next time out." Dubbed The Horse of a Lifetime as the first US Triple Crown winner in 37 years, American Pharoah will stand the 2017 season at Coolmore at a fee of $66,000.
