Superhard Not To Be Impressed

Wednesday, 23rd August 2017

Based on what they saw yesterday, the connections of Pakenham maiden winner Superhard would be dreaming of bigger things to come. The 3YO colt's ownership comprises enough players to fill a cricket team with plenty of extras to carry the drinks, and that might be an apt analogy with surnames like Ponting, Hussey and Rogers in the owner mix. Superhard, by Vinery Stud's Champion 3YO All Too Hard (Casino Prince-Helsinge, by Desert Sun) was solidly supported to start a short-priced second favourite over 1000m on the Polytrack. Moderately away under a patient ride by Ryan Moloney, the $130,000 Inglis Easter purchase by Champion Thoroughbreds from Kitchwin Hills flashed home to win like a horse that's going places in a hurry. From the family of Gr1 winners Designs On Rome and Grey Swallow, Superhard is a half-sibling to Gr2 VRC Sires Produce Stakes winner Twilight Royale. He holds entries for both the Caulfield Guineas and Caulfield Classic. All Too Hard now has 15 first crop winners, including the stakes trio Curdled, All Too Huiying and Mystic Empire. He stands for $44,000 at Vinery Stud in 2017.
