Wednesday Odd-Spot: Vodka, Salami And Tomato Roll
In a scene akin to an episode of Get Smart, one Southwell-bound punter in the UK has gone to lengths beyond even Max's Shoe Phone in a bizarre attempt to smuggle a £7.29 bottle of vodka on course, reports racingpost.com. Like a golfer attempting to hit his driver from treacherous rough, it was a classic case of nice idea, poor execution. The Vodka bottle was concealed by the lady in a white roll, wrapped in salami, with slices of tomato for added authenticity. She was brought undone when a Steward noticed that her lunchbox weighed in heavy for a sandwich. Although bosses at the course could see the funny side of the smuggling attempt, they also noted that security had been stepped up in light of escalating terror attacks and associated threats.
