Enable Takes Stranglehold On Yorkshire Oaks
Waking to the news that she will be meeting only five challengers in tonight's Gr1 Yorkshire Oaks, bookmakers have a taken a further pencil to triple Gr1 winner Enable's odds, shortening her pre-post price to 1-3. Next in the betting is the talented Gr1 Pretty Polly Stakes winning Dubawi filly Nezwaah at a healthy 7-1. Enable will be aiming to extend her streak which includes both the Epsom and Irish Oaks and her most recent outing where she also beat up on the boys to capture the Gr1 King George & Queen Elizabeth Stakes. Interestingly, her last outing saw her topple gun 4YO colt Ulysses, who won overnight's Gr1 Juddmonte International (see earlier article). Enable's trainer John Gosden is exercising caution in the lead-up to the Yorkshire Oaks, given his equally talented filly Tahgrooda was going into the race three years ago off the back of the same three race victories before being denied as an odds-on favourite at York, reports justracing.com.au. Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager for owner Khalid Abdullah, noted, "In all the big races everything has to go right. If you don't bring your 'A Game' then, no matter how good you are, you are not going to win. That is the hardest thing for people outside racing to understand. They are not machines and you can't just change the tyres, fill up the oil, or whatever. When a horse is on form it always looks like smooth clockwork, but getting them to the races and in the best shape of mind is not an easy thing to do."
