Eurack Bound For The Paddock After Victory

Thursday, 24th August 2017

Exciting lightly raced 4YO sprinter Eurack, covered in this column yesterday, is headed to the spelling paddock, reports AAP. The daisy-cutting mare, sent off a $1.90 favourite, was forced to work hard and race wide from her outside draw. Some 300m from home, when Wind Force skipped well clear, Eurack looked as though a place was about as much as could be hoped for, however she slipped into another gear to do what was required to take her record to 3 wins from as many starts. Jockey Ben Melham said, “It was a good, solid win as the runner-up kicked away down the hill and I had to get to the bottom of her,” Melham said. “I think she’s probably earned a spell now. She’s done a good job in her first preparation and she’ll come back a really nice horse.” Post race trainer Nathan McPherson, who believes Eurack willget at least 1200m, revealed that he’d been quite nervous ahead of the event, saying, “My heart was in my mouth at one stage there, but we’ve got the job done so we’ll see how much that takes out of her.”
