Stoute Points To Breeders’ Cup Turf For Ulysses

Thursday, 24th August 2017

Following the exceptional win by Ulysses in the Gr1 Juddmonte International Stakes at York overnight (see above), his trainer Sir Michael Stoute rubber-stamped the Gr1 Breeders’ Cup Turf for the improving Nirachos family home-bred. According to thoroughbreddailynews.com, Stoute said, “He’s a professional athlete now and has everything–constitution, rhythm and pedigree. I think it’s time to give him a break and I know Maria [Niarchos] is keen on the Breeders’ Cup Turf, so we’ll work backwards from that.” The son of Galileo won’t be fazed by the US sojourn, having finished fourth in 2016’s renewal at Santa Anita. The Juddmonte International carries a Win and you’re in clause, so Ulysses is automatically qualified to run.
