Enable Wins UK Gr1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks
At York in the UK overnight, Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte Farms homebred filly 3YO filly Enable (Nathaniel-Concentric, by Sadlers Wells) became a triple Classic winner when performing another demolition job to score by 5-lengths for trainer John Gosden in the Gr1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks (12 furlongs). Enable, who recently become one of a handful of fillies to beat her male contemporaries in the Gr1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth II Stakes has now elevated herself into very rarefied company. Sent off at $1.24 after investors decided it was effectively a one horse race despite the presence of five other fillies, Frankie Dettori piloted Enable to a contemptuous win over fellow fillies Coronet (Dubawi) and Queen’s Trust (Dansili). Her past four wins, all at Gr1 level, have been by an aggregate 20-lengths which is rather handy form if Enable heads to the Gr1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in just over 5 weeks as is expected by some and hoped for by everyone. Currently even money favourite for the Arc, Enable has history on her side with 6 of the past 7 winners being fillies, and 3YOs proving tough to beat given their weight allowance.
