War Jet Lands At Gold Coast

Friday, 25th August 2017

There's been much in the news of late regarding Guam and aircraft costing more than the average Australian suburb, but a more sedate equine version has returned to his Gold Coast home to launch a new campaign for a fourth stable in Saturday's Haneco Lightning Handicap, reports racerate.com. Fond memories will accompany the 7YO gelding War Jet whose greatest triumph to date was in the 2015 Magic Millions Country Cup at the same course when trained by Joe Cleary for the late ATC race caller Tony Campbell. The winner of 8 races and $268,000 in prizemoney is now under the tutelage of Beaudesert trainer Rod Hurley and will be having his first run since the Bega Cup in February. Hurley, a former leading apprentice, is building his stable gradually and commented on his new acquisition, "[War Jet] is a seven-year-old now but going along nicely and we hope he races well."
