Roomooz Shows Gr1 Credentials

Monday, 28th August 2017

Well-bred filly Roomooz confirmed connections' plans to target the Gr1 Thousand Guineas in the spring after resuming with a strong win at Moonee Valley on Saturday. The Tony McEvoy-trained 3YO proved too good for Golden Slipper-placed filly and race favourite Tulip when holding on for a tough head win in the Johnnie Walker Plate over 1200m. "I've had a high regard of her for a long time. In a year's time, she'll be better again," McEvoy told racing.com post-race. McEvoy is confident Roomooz will have no trouble stretching her brilliance out to 1600 metres in the $500,000 Thousand Guineas at Caulfield on 14 October. "Her pedigree says a mile. She's by Fastnet Rock and her mother, Pane In The Glass, was a very good mare and was a Group winner at a mile - it won't be an issue," he said. A $480,000 Easter yearling purchase by Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Roomooz is by Fastnet Rock out of Gr3 Silver Shadow Stakes winner and multiple Gr1 placed filly Pane In The Glass (Testa Rossa).
