Breeders’ Cup Beckons Ulysses

Tuesday, 29th August 2017

Brilliant Gr1 Juddmonte International winner Ulysses is likely to have one more run in the UK before targeting the Breeders' Cup Turf at Del Mar on 4 November, reports Sky Sports. The beautifully bred Ulysses (Galileo-Light Shift, by Kingmambo) improved his record to 5 wins (including the Gr1 Coral-Eclipse Stakes) from 12 starts when scoring a decisive win for trainer Sir Michael Stoute in last week’s £1 million feature. "He seems to have come out of the race very well, which is good news," said Alan Cooper, racing manager to owners the Niarchos family. "The plan is to work back from the Breeders' Cup. As he only ran on Wednesday we will just feel our way for a few days and come up with a plan between now and then.” Cooper added: "To give the horse one more run would be the case in an ideal world, but we'll feel our way and see what's best for the horse."
