Sheidel Ready for Return

Wednesday, 30th August 2017

Meanwhile, brilliant sprinting mare Sheidel (Holy Roman Emperor-Laventour, by Metal Storm) is set to make her seasonal reappearance in Saturday's Gr3 The Heath 1100 Stakes at Caulfield, reports racing.com. The Lindsay Park-trained Sheidel, who hasn't raced since finishing 11th in the Gr1 Robert Sangster Stakes at Morphettville on 6 May, showed she was in top shape for her spring return when scoring an outstanding 1000m barrier trial win over stable-mates Redkirk Warrior and Dibayani at Tatura on 22 August. "It was a really class field," said owner Rob Crabtree. "We had a little 48kg apprentice on Sheidel but, nevertheless, she won the official trial by seven lengths." Crabtree added: "So we think in The Heath on Saturday, she's right in it. And maybe that'll lead us to The Everest, who knows? She's ready to win on Saturday." Sheidel has won 15 of her 30 starts for over $1.6 million in prize money. Her biggest career win to date was in the Gr1 Oakleigh Plate in February.
