Winx Draws Favourably for Chelmsford

Thursday, 31st August 2017

Champion mare Winx has drawn ideally in barrier three for Saturday's $250,000 Gr2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) at Royal Randwick. Not that barrier draws matter much when a horse possesses such exceptional ability as the daughter of Street Cry. The Chris Waller-trained 6YO, who resumed with a stunning last-stride win in the Gr2 Warwick Stakes (1400m) after missing the start by 5 lengths, is currently $1.06 with TAB to post her 19th consecutive victory in the weight-for-age feature. Winx will be opposed by 11 rivals, with the Kris Lees-trained Sense Of Occasion rated her closest market rival at $21. Last seen winning the Gr1 Doomben Cup on 28 May, Sense Of Occasion will jump from barrier 2 and will be ridden by Corey Brown. The 150-1 outsiders of the field are the stayers Libran and Allergic.
