La Diosa Primed for Feature Mile

Tuesday, 14th November 2017

The connections of last season's New Zealand 1000 Guineas winner La Diosa are confident she can recapture her best form in tomorrow's $230,000 Gr2 Coupland's Bakeries Mile at Riccarton, reports theinformant.co.nz. The 4YO mare is coming off an encouraging effort when fourth in the Coupland's Bakeries Handicap over 1400m. "I think she deserves to be one of the favourites," co-trainer Mandy Brown said. "We were thrilled with her last run, she hit the line very well and this is the race we've set for her." Brown added: "Like we've said all along, we'd give her a light spring campaign and everything has gone to plan. She's definitely stronger, more mature and she's pretty fit." By former Champion Australian Racehorse So You Think, La Diosa is out of Gr2 winning Star Way mare Star Affair and hails from the same family as NZ 1000 Guineas winner The Jewel and Gr1 Auckland Cup winner Irish Chance.
