Jockey Joao Moreira will be based in Sydney for the next six weeks, and he's thrilled about the decision, reports racing.com. It's been three years since Moreira last rode in Australia. "It's a pleasure to be back, no doubt about it," Moreira said. "Getting a phone call from Chris Waller to come and ride a little bit for him, it was an easy decision to make. It's been quite some time that he's mentioned to me that if I ever wanted to come to Australia, I should just ring him. Anyway, the opportunity presented and here we are." Moreira conceded, "No doubt, I'm excited about it, I've got plenty to look forward to, we've got some big meetings coming up on the weekends. Chris has put me on decent horses, so as I've said, I've got plenty to look forward to." For Waller, he will ride Fangirl (Sebring-Little Surfer Girl, by Encosta de Lago) in Saturday's Gr1 Doncaster Mile and Militarize (Dundeel-Amerindia, by Dubawi) in the Gr1 Sires' Produce, while he will ride Godolphin's Paulele (Dawn Approach-Chatoyant, by Flying Spur) in the Gr1 TJ Smith Stakes and the Busuttin/Young trained Suizuro (Real Impact-Sussuro, by Pivotal) in the Gr1 Australian Derby. "For the time being, I'm ok," Moreira said about his ongoing hip injury. "I will ride for as long as I can because I love my job, I love to ride. However, being able to ride for two years or 10 years, I can't see myself without horses, whatever I do next will be something related to horse racing.
