  • Bold Carlyon Choice by Bastille Connections

    Friday, 23rd August 2024

A winner of four of her five starts at two, Ben, Will and JD Hayes' filly Bold Bastille (Brazen Beau-Chloe in Paris, by Exceed And Excel) takes on the older horses this Saturday when she resumes in the Listed Carylon Stakes at Moonee Valley. Having only raced at the track once in her short career, when beating subsequent Gr1 Blue Diamond winner Hayasugi (Royal Meeting) on debut in the $500,000 Inglis Banner, Bold Bastille has drawn barrier six in the field of nine and with Jamie Kah taking the ride, connections will be surely looking for a forward showing from the favourite. Sitting second in the market, only narrowly, is Gavin Bedggood's impressive last start Moonee Valley winner Mornington Glory (Shalaa-Crowned Glory, by Danehill). With two wins from three starts at the track, the gelding will need to overcome the outside barrier, which may see him settle a little wide if the favourite kicks up and tries to go forward. Not seen since his narrow second in the Gr3 Hawkes Stakes at Morphettville, off the back of four straight wins prior to that, the Mark Walker-trained Sans Doute (Not A Single Doubt-My Prerogative, by I Am Invincible) is yet to win at the track but has placed in each run at the circuit, and also has some solid form at the 1000m distance.
