Established in 2009 by Neale Bruce, Berkeley Park Stud was initially located on a leased property, Kilwinning, next to Scone Racecourse. The early successes allowed Neale and wife Jenny to purchase land in Blandford and build their own farm in 2013. Situated on the Pages River with a combination of alluvial river flats, rolling hills and fertile grazing country, Berkeley Park Stud has grown over the last decade into a winner producing property. Most famous for World Champion sprinter Chautauqua, who was bred by Berkeley Park's client Edwina Throsby, Berkeley Park took Chautauqua to the 2012 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, where he passed in short of his $400,000 reserve. The big grey is remembered for his flying finishes like in the 2015, 2016 and 2017 Gr1 TJ Smith Stakes and 2016 G1 Hong Kong Chairman's Sprint Prize, as well as being the horse who refused to race. All up, he won six Gr1 races and over $8.7 million. His Gr1 winning dam Lovely Jubly also produced Gr3 winner London Lolly and Listed winner Need Some Luck (winner of last Saturday's $300,000 The Buffering), while London Lolly also resided at Berkeley Park Stud and has four winners from her first four to race. Most of Berkeley Park Stud's clients retain their stock to race with only select few horses from the property going through yearling sales. Gr1 winners Scales of Justice and Extreme Choice together with black type performers Miss Vonn, Lady Tatia, Faraway Town, Denmagic, and Flippant were all foaled down at Berkeley Park. From small numbers sold, Berkeley Park Stud has enjoyed several runners listed on the Black Type Premiership, most recently with Listed Exford Plate-placed 3YO colt Wise Inlaw, who is one of only six yearlings presented at the 2024 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Gr3 Vamos Stakes-placed Jaguar Stone, as well as I'm Zac, Madam Odette, and Fu Ni. Bruce, originally from Victoria, spent his early years working around various studs globally including long stints at Widden, Kia Ora, and Heytesbury Pastoral, a 2.7 million hectare station which runs over 165,000 head of cattle. This experience gave him the necessary knowledge that is required to efficiently run an agistment farm. Berkeley Park Stud's farm manager Donal Reidy worked in Kildare, Kentucky and the Waikato prior to arriving in Australia in 2005 and brings global expertise to the business. The farm is home to around 40 broodmares, most belonging to clients. In 2026, Berkeley Park Stud will present five yearlings at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale including a Home Affairs half-sister to Wise Inlaw. They also typically take yearlings to the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale and Magic Millions National Yearling Sale.
