Ellerton Stable Adds Tillet to Team

Now training on his own following an amicable dissolution of his long-standing partnership with Simon Zahra, Melbourne trainer Matthew Ellerton has added Matt Tillett to the stable’s team, reports racing.com. The son of Murray Tillett has a strong thoroughbred pedigree, having worked for Darley and Woodside Park, and most recently comes off a stint as racing manager for the powerful Tony and Calvin McEvoy stable. Currently at the Gold Coast where he is among a significant cohort inspecting yearlings before Tuesday’s sale start, Tillett is enthusiastic about joining Ellerton whose runners are enjoying a purple patch of form. “I’m looking forward to the future with Matty and the new direction of his business… If he keeps training as many winners as he has been (there’ve been a dozen in 5 weeks since going solo), it’ll make my job selling some bloodstock for him quite easy.”
