  • Cummings Compares Cylinder to Giga Kick

    Wednesday, 6th September 2023

Currently second in the 2023-24 Australian Black Type Trainers Premiership, Godolphin's James Cummings has compared Cylinder (Exceed and Excel-Circular, by Street Cry) favourably to The Everest winner Giga Kick (Scissor Kick-Rekindled Applause, by Royal Applause), reports racenet.com.au. "Don't forget Giga Kick only won the Vain Stakes by a narrow margin and he went on to win The Everest last spring," Cummings said. "Cylinder was fatter than a pig in mud first-up so he only has improvement him. This is a colt that ran a slashing second in the Golden Slipper, he was a Todman Stakes winner and a Silver Slipper winner as a 2YO. He's a very, very good horse and he's already on the board as a spring 3YO. We are looking forward to seeing him in the Run To The Rose which looks like being a very good race." The TAB has Cylinder as a $2.80 favourite for the Gr2 Run to the Rose on Saturday in a stellar field. The son of Darley's Exceed and Excel has won three of his seven starts, placing on three occasions with all his wins being in Group races, and was the co-leading Black Type 2YO Champion of last season.
