Wolfy continued his progression in Melbourne on Sunday afternoon when he accounted for a competitive line-up of 3YOs over 1420m at Flemington, reports loveracing.nz. The Nick Ryan-trained Wolfy (Tivaci-She’s Popular, by Savabeel) had been a tidy maiden victor at Sale at his previous appearance and continued his winning way in style. Regular rider Blake Shinn let events unfold in front of him aboard Wolfy at the tail of the field before he angled wide at the top of the straight and the colt lengthened stride impressively to score going away. “We knew he was going to be back in the last three or four and come on strongly. He’s certainly got a lot of ability and this is his first preparation so there is a lot of improvement to come,” Ryan said. The trainer suggested he would let the dust settle on Wolfy’s latest performance before he makes a decision on the immediate future, but there is the prospect of heading to the Gr1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) or giving him extra time and looking at autumn options. “He still wants to wander around a bit and is learning so it is exciting. The autumn would really be his time so maybe the Australian Guineas (Gr1, 1600m) in March could be his race.” Wolfy’s Gr1 All Aged Stakes-winning sire Tivaci (see below) is another promising son at stud by High Chaparral whose influence is omnipresent. He stands at Waikato Stud.
