  • Mill Park's Limestone Coast Black Type Run Continues

    Wednesday, 22nd November 2023

With last Saturday's Group 3 victories of Rose Quartz (Written Tycoon) and Brazen Style (Brazen Beau) at Caulfield, South Australia's Mill Park Stud continued their outstanding spring, moving into eighth position on the 2023/2024 Black Type Vendors Premiership. Since the start of September, Mill Park have been represented by 9 individual Black Type performers of 12 stakes races led by the Mitchell Freedman-trained Attrition (Churchill), an impressive winner of the Gr1 Toorak Handicap who became the 20th individual elite level winner for the limestone enriched farm. It was celebrations all around at the farm the day Attrition won as Mill Park were also represented by Listed SAJC Hill Smith Stakes winner Air Assault (Justify) and Listed Reginald Allen Stakes winner Arctic Glamour (Frosted) who has since charged home for fifth in last Saturday's Gr1 Thousand Guineas highlighting that she is one to watch in the Autumn. Another to watch when she resumes in the Autumn is the Jason Warren trained Benedetta (Hellbent) who was last seen when finishing fourth in the $1m Silver Eagle off the back of winning the Gr3 Cockram Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield in September two starts prior. While not considered Black Type races, Foxy Frida (Foxwedge) captured her second running of the Inglis Bracelet during the Flemington carnival, while 5YO I Am Invincible gelding Attractable took out the $3m The Big Dance at Randwick on Melbourne Cup Day. With a strong draft on offer at January's Magic Millions sale including a full-brother to Attrition (Lot 74) and the King's Legacy half-brother to Benedetta (Lot 355), Mill Park Stud's 14 strong draft is sure to be in high demand.
