Ridgeport’s promising filly Invincible Lover reached an important milestone in her first preparation, working on grass at Cranbourne this week. Purchased for a record-breaking $400,000 at the Adelaide Magic Millions by WA owner Santo Guagliardo in March, she has impressed her co-trainers, Lloyd Kennewell and Lucy Yeomans. “She’s a natural and did it easily,” Yeomans remarked. “We thought she might be an early type with such a lovely temperament. She’s neat but strong, and the next step is a jump-out before making any definite plans.” Invincible Lover (2f I Am Invincible – Les Amoureux by Redoute’s Choice) holds the distinction of being the most expensive filly ever sold at the Magic Millions Adelaide Sale. Bred at Baramul Stud, she is the first foal from a half-sister to Gr2 Queensland Guineas (1600m) winner Sambro (Fastnet Rock). “I thought she could have been [catalogued] at the Gold Coast or Easter,” Kennewell said. He collaborated with Guagliardo and agent Mathew Becker in a bidding duel against Phillip Stokes. “She’s one of the best Vinnies I’ve seen this year, and that’s saying something as we see a lot of them. I knew she’d be expensive. I didn’t quote Santo that much, but we didn’t start bidding until she got to $340,000. Santo was on the phone, and I told him this was the filly I really wanted for him.” Invincible Lover’s Yarraman Park-based sire I Am Invincible leads all stallions on the Australian Black Type Stallion Premiership since the inaugural Premiership season in 2020-21. He has 52 yearlings catalogued for January’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale.
